Using Tech Auditor

Tech Auditor inspects public websites and scores them on SEO, performance, security, accessibility and related checks. The dev team audit scores a software team from the answers you give and the sample sites you list. You don't need an account, and the service is provided free of charge.

Acceptable use

Only scan websites you own, run, or have permission to test. You agree not to:

  • use Tech Auditor to probe, overload, or attack a website, or to look for weaknesses to exploit;
  • get around the rate limits, for example with many clients or automated scripts;
  • try to reach private networks, internal hosts, or anything that isn't a public website;
  • submit content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to share;
  • interfere with the service, or attempt to access data you weren't given a link to.

We may block requests, delete reports, or restrict access when these terms are broken.

Reports and sharing

Every report has a link. Anyone with that link can view, download, re-run, or delete the report, and the most recent reports are listed publicly on the site. Treat a report link as public. You're responsible for who you share it with.

If a report concerns your website and you want it removed, delete it from the report page or contact us.

What you submit

You keep ownership of what you enter in a dev team audit. You allow us to store it, use it to produce the report, and show it to anyone who opens the report link. Don't include confidential business information or personal data about other people.

Accuracy of results

Scores and findings are automated measurements, taken at one moment from one location. They can be wrong or incomplete, and a site can behave differently for other visitors. A report is a starting point for your own review. It isn't professional advice, a security assessment, or proof of compliance with any law or standard, such as accessibility or data protection rules.

Dev team audit scores reflect only the answers given. They aren't an independent assessment of a team or company.

Availability and changes

We provide Tech Auditor as it is, without guarantees that it will be available, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. We may change the checks or scoring, limit usage, or suspend or end the service at any time. We may also remove reports, without notice.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, NY8 isn't liable for any loss or damage arising from using Tech Auditor or relying on its reports. This includes lost revenue, lost data, and decisions made from a score. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

You're responsible for the scans you start. If you scan a site without permission, or break these terms in another way, you're responsible for the consequences.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use Tech Auditor after a change means you accept the updated terms.
